Greetings, I'm Shane and for the last 23 years I looked after my elderly uncle. He passed away Dec 1st of 2011. He was my best friend and was always there for me growing up. When he got sick 23 years ago, I felt it was only right that I be there for him as he had always been for me. In all those years I cooked, did light housekeeping, monitored his meds, took care of the dogs, reminded him of his appointments, and cut the grass. This was all in New Orleans, Louisiana. After he passed away I moved to Utah to be close to friends. I don't drive but I do have dependable transportation back and forth to work. If a client should need me to run to the store for them I will be able to get transportation at least once a week to do so.

Other Information

I've always enjoyed the company older individuals. Some people seem to think the elderly are old fashioned and don't know anything about today. They're so wrong. Elderly people offer a world of wisdom. and often are without even knowing it. It just takes someone that's willing to listen. My uncle in the end was not at his best temperament. I never let it bother me. I always kept in mind it was his illness that was making him so ill tempered. I'm only 48 years old and think after all I have been thru that this is my calling. I feel it's what God has intended for me to do. What I've learned over the years after taking care of my mother and uncle, would be a waste if I took a job on an assembly line. The local Job Service is interested in helping me get CNA schooling if this occupation should require it.
