Hello, my name is Nancy Bell. I finished a HHA certification class at CNM about 10 years ago so I could better care for my mother that has dementia. I also take some part time or PRN positions off and on to make a little extra money as I have a teenager to support. I have worked with a hospice agency and a local caregiving company, usually working with patients in their homes. I am bilingual, I lived for many years in Guatemala and I love working with patients that are bilingual also. I truly enjoy the elderly patient and I work equally well with both women and men. Caregiving is more than a job to me; it is part of my life, as I still care for my mother at times. I enjoy working with people in their homes, to me it is the best place a person can be and it is so helpful to be able to have the interaction of their families. I don't mind working in nursing homes, but I do not want to work full time in a nursing home. At this time of my life, I really would rather work less than 20 hrs. per week and Monday through Friday 7am to 4pm are my preferred hours. I am a very caring and detail oriented caregiver, I take a personal interest in my clients and I work to see that their every caregiving needs are fulfilled.
I am very close with my husband and we have many family and church related activities on the weekend. Apart from my teenage son, I have 4 step children in their 20’s and there are 3 grandkids 1, 4, and 7, they are wonderful!
In my free time, my husband and I are avid outdoors people and we try very hard to keep fit!
I am continuing my education and take classes at CNM and UNM to keep my brain sharp! I am working to finish my education in Radiology, but I don’t plan to get into an X-ray career till my caregiving duties with my mother are over, and that could be many years down the road. Until that time, I want to continue caring for patients in their homes, using my pt. care skills and helping people to have a good life in their homes or in a nursing home.
