Profile
I have been doing care taking for over 4 years, with agencies and privately. I have taken care of dozens of clients in a variety of different situations. I have taken care of people in their homes, assisted living facilities, memory care units, rehabilitation facilities and hospices. My clients have had cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke recovery, neuropathy and several other conditions. I am 57 years old, very active and energetic. I have two grown children and two grandchildren. I broke my ankle in February and lost all three of my private clients so I have been looking to replace them. I can do overnights and 24 hr. shifts but like to leave at least part of my weekend free so I can see my family and friends. I've found this makes you a better caregiver as it can be an isolating job and its important to have activities outside of work.

I love to read, garden and decorate my home. I like to go to thrift stores and garage sales and find things that I can re-finish. I love animals, and my family and am very proud of my kids. I love to help people. I need a job where I can go home and feel I have made a difference, however small, in someone's lives.I enjoy listening to many of the wonderful stories I have heard from my clients, especially my now 102 yr old friend! I realize I can't "fix" what is wrong with many of my clients, but if I can ease their pain, make something easier, make them feel alone or talk and joke and make it go away for awhile, I feel like I have done my job. As much as people say "don't get too attached" - I get attached to my clients. I don't think you can really be a "care" taker without getting at least somewhat attached.
