I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA in a very dysfunctional family where my father committed suicide when I was 12 years old. I graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1969 and joined the USAF eight days later. I was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and Wiesbaden, Germany, where I represented the United States in basketball and won the European Championship twice. I was honorably discharged in 1973 and then attended Humboldt State University and graduated in 1978. While attending college I produced over 50 concerts and special events. I was married to Terry in 1977 and we recently celebrated our 39th anniversary on June 18. Upon graduation I was employed as the Recreation and Parks Director for the city of Fortuna, CA, where I established many classes, trips, and sports programs for the community. I also built a 28 acre park. In 1980 I was employed by the city of Atascadero, CA. While there I established over 100 programs and built a 30 acre park and installed 80 foot tall night lights at the city baseball field. This city program was 90% self sufficient which is unheard of in public recreation. I was also in charge of a complete zoo with lions and tigers and many other animals, as well as overseeing a lake which was part of our city facilities. In 1988 we immigrated to Western Australia where I was the principal of two K-12 schools and the head pastor of a church I started in 1988 and left in 2001 as we returned to America. In Australia I played basketball on a national team that toured the Philippines and Hong Kong for 45 days. I have been an international motivational speaker in many countries. I also have spoken on 'Origins' on every continent except Antarctica. I also visited Malawi, Africa, to work with HIV/AIDS widows and orphans. I did the same type of work in the Amazon region of Peru. Upon returning to the United States I started a fully accredited high school in Monterey, CA. and helped start a substance abuse rehabilitation center that is recognized by the Monterey County court system. After seven years I relocated to San Diego where I served as principal at Grace Christian Schools. Currently I am semi-retired here in Glenwood Springs delivering Pizza for Pizza Hut on Thursday and Friday nights. I also serve as the pastor of a small church in McCoy, Colorado. Everywhere I have served I have worked with special needs adults and children taking them to Dr. appointments, taking them on trips, helping with hygiene, home care, medication, and any other need that arose.
