I have taken care of two husbands while they fought their battle with cancer, my father with Parkinson's and my mother that had two strokes and a heart attack. I taught special education for 11 years, having the pleasure of working with families from very diverse backgrounds and becoming as educated as possible in religions, cultures, customs and beliefs. I have experience with monitoring for seizures and ensuring proper care during and after, medication schedules, taking and charting vital signs, charting input/output, medical terminology, bathing/dressing, incontinence, hooking up and monitoring feeding tubes, planning and preparing balanced diets, feeding assistance, transferring to and from wheelchairs, toilets, bathtubs/showers and vehicles, proper wound care, looking for infection, and changing dressings. I also have experience with people confined to their bed; making sure to reposition them and monitor for bedsores. I believe it is imperative for senior's to remain as independent as they safely can. Aging is a difficult part of life (losing loved ones and friends, health, mobility and mental abilities), senior's need to remain as comfortable and secure as they can. What better place for that then in their home. In taking care of my family, I have learned a very important lesson; just listen and let them talk. Whether aging or dying, we all deserve dignity and respect.

I love the outdoors; hunting, fishing, NASCAR, football, baseball and gardening. I have to thank my grandmother for teaching me the fine arts of sewing, quilting and crocheting. I have been told I am a good cook. I am very organized and clean. I have a thirst for knowledge; whether it be reading or listening. I had a great aunt that I spent a lot of time with as she aged, I remember telling her she was a living history book, she was born in 1913.
