Good day, my name is Brenda. I am a registered nurse who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies with course work specific to addiction and trauma. I have experience in a variety of areas. When I am not working in my nursing role I am planning weddings and events as I am also a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. I have spent part of my nursing career in part time and per-diem positions so that I could spend time with my children as they grew up. There are many things that I enjoy in life. I am family oriented and strive to assist my clients in a family manner. Meaning they are not just a job for me they are important individuals whose feelings and emotions, concerns, and questions I take very seriously. I tend to focus on the positive side of things rather than dwell on the negatives. Communication is important when working with people, I prefer the direct approach. If there is something happening then I work it out with the person or persons involved. Some of my hobbies include antiquing; collecting carnival glass and religious artifacts. I also like to assist with animal rescue and placement. I love to participate in outdoor activities in the summer, not so much in the winter. I enjoy quilting and oil painting. Genealogy is also a fun and exciting hobby of mine, I love to trace family history; I think it is important to learn our roots. I also enjoy being with my children through their performances and encouraging them to be and do all that they are and can accomplish. I will be starting the BSN program at Notre Dame College in the fall and am looking forward to expanding my professional and educational role. After achieving the goal of completing my BSN I am looking forward to attending Georgetown University becoming a Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice. I have travelled internationally seeing, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, France, Italy, Vatican City, Austria, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Canada. In my travels to Poland I had the honor of meeting two Holocaust Survivors. Listening to their outlook on life and seeing how they viewed the world even after everything they had gone through transformed my perspective of how I look at outcomes to everyday situations. When they can find the positive in what they went through I learned to look deeper into what I go through and discovered that there is always something positive that will shine through . One of my favorite quotes by out survivor “I forgive but I do not forget, because it is in forgetting that we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past” . I am grateful to have met him and to take from this meeting a life changing outlook. My greatest accomplishments in my life are my beautiful children. I encourage them to follow their dreams and be the best that they are and can be.

Related Interests & Hobbies
Interests and hobbies of mine include, antiquing, looking at family history and developing a family tree. Traveling internationally and within the United States is also a passion of mine. There are so many beautiful places to visit home and abroad. I would personally like to visit each state within the US and visit all countries at least once. I also love to share my stories and photography with others. I have written a book of poetry and photography entitled “From Within: A meditative Journey” and a second book “From Within: A Historical Journey along the Androscoggin River” they are in the process of being published. I also find oil painting to be relaxing and very rewarding. I have several canvases started because with oil painting you have to let the layers of your painting dry so that you can go onto the next part of the painting without mixing the paints or ruining the effect you are trying to portray. I love to plant flower gardens and trees. I have a tree garden, currently I have a purple magnolia tree (they aren’t supposed to grow in my zone), Honeysuckle, Flowering Dogwood, Cherry, Apple, and Spruce to name a few. I enjoy my flower gardens as well. I am in the process of building a Zen Garden and will be painting a large waterfall mural on the back of the house where the meditative gardens will be. I also enjoy animal rescue and will assist any animal I can. I have fostered seagulls, turtles, snakes, mice, rats, gerbils, cats, dogs, and many types of birds. I enjoy collecting religious artifacts. One of my prized pieces is a 2 foot statue of the Virgin Mary that my Great Uncle had hand carved and painted. I also have many pieces that come from great grandparent’s collections from what was at one time Czechoslovakia. Although I am not fluent in any foreign language I enjoy learning the general introductions and words needed to communicate in other countries. My next travel event will be to Costa Rica. While in Costa Rica we will be involved in community service, planting trees in the rainforest. We will also take a journey along one of the rivers through the rainforest and will also kayak behind waterfalls. We will also be taking up to 11 students with us who have an interest in studying Costa Rica. I mentioned early on that I enjoy antiquing. I enjoy collecting carnival and Fenton Art Glass. Tea cups with etching on the inside of the cup also tend to catch my eye. I also like to find antique furniture. Photography is another hobby of mine. I am the person who takes thousands of pictures on a trip. I once took 5535 pictures and 21 videos on my first trip to Europe.
